Scotland is famous for the home of salmon fishing, the largest UK rod caught salmon, and the longest salmon season which extends on different river systems from the 11th January to 30th November. In addition to salmon the other fish species include trout, sea-trout , arctic char ( isolated from the last ice-age) pike and grayling.
There are hundred of river systems, the largest of which is the Tay which is notable for Miss Ballantines 64lb salmon landed in 1922. This is a vast river system which requires boat access in the lower sections. |
